The course is aimed at senior trainees, fellows or consultants wishing to learn and practice techniques for treatment of wrist instability and arthritis.

This course will cover:

  • Dorsal approach to the wrist
  • Scapholunate ligament direct repair
  • Modified Brunelli Reconstruction
  • STT and 4 corner fusion, total wrist fusion

There will here will be 2 delegates per limb and a ratio of 2 delegates to 1 faculty

NB – If delegates on a limb move at a faster pace than the programme other practicals are available. e.g. total wrist fusion, ECRB mid-carpal instability stabilisation, ECU Luno-triquetral instability stabilisation, 1st CMCJ tightrope.

7.30     Meet Clinical Sciences Building –  Mezzanine Floor

8.00     Walk to Lab

8.10     Registration and briefing in WMSTC

8.30     Demo – Dorsal approach to wrist

8.40     Practical – Dorsal approach to wrist with proximal ½  Berger incision.

9.15     Demo – DISI correction with Anchor and k-wire stabilisation

9.25     Practical – Correct DISI and Anchor insertion, insert k-wires and assess on mini C-arm

10.45 Coffee

11.00   Lecture – Scapholunate ligament reconstruction

11.15   Demo Practical Scapholunate ligament reconstruction

11.25   Practical – Scapholunate ligament reconstruction

12.45 Lunch

13.45   Lecture – STT fusion

14.00   Practical – STT fusion

15.20   Lecture – 4 corner fusion

15.35   Practical – 4 corner fusion

17.15   Question and debrief

17.30   Close

(Refreshments are available throughout the day therefore the afternoon coffee break is flexible and at the delegates discretion)

A mini C-arm will be available to assess your surgery.

NB – If BOTH delegates in a pair move at a faster pace than the programme other practicals are available such as ECRB mid-carpal reconstruction, ECU reconstruction of LTq ligament.
