This course has been developed to help core surgical trainees advance their laparoscopic skills.
In modern day surgery, laparoscopic skills have become key with many procedures incorporating their use.
The stations will include laparoscopic diathermy, dissection, suturing, handling of tissues and finally laparoscopic appendicectomy using porcine models. The course will be led by general surgeons based at UHCW with an excellent faculty including colorectal consultants and SpRs.
Hands on teaching will be provided with a 1:1 teaching ratio. We aim for the trainee to be able to perform a laparoscopic appendicectomy under supervision by the end of the course.
